Bude Ladies hit five on way to first league victory


Bude Town Ladies made their presence felt in their new league with a stylish 5-2 win over Activate on Sunday at Broadclose. Having been promoted into the South West Women’s Football League after a strong showing last season, the team proved they are continuing to move in right direction as the new season gets underway.

The first half saw a strong showing from Bude who took a 3-1 lead at the break and never looked like letting that advantage slip, cruising into a 5-1 lead in the second half before a late penalty saw the visitors pull back a consolation goal. Skipper Katherine Bryant led the way with a brace and was joined on the scoresheet by both Clare and Sarah Badham, as well as player manager Leanne Stanbury, who was pleased with her side’s performance as begin to tackle life in a higher league.
