With a decent run of form behind them, the team were determined to get to grips with the game right from the start. And so it was as within 2 minutes, a corner from Scott Percy saw skipper Liam Sandercock hit the back of the net from a powerful header. St Dennis, 8th in the league were stunned by that and for a while Bude kept up the pressure. The opposition got into their rhythm, and for most of the time the game was fairly evenly contested. Scott Percy was proving to be a handful as on several occasions, on breakaways he was unlucky not to hit the target. Also just before half time Lee Rickard almost got an equaliser, but his stab at the goal saw the ball trickle slowly past the post. In the second half, after 10 minutes Harry Hopcroft put the ball through the visitors defence for Wes Pugh to nudge the ball in to the goal. Two nil up now and playing really well, but St D hadn't given in by any means. Lee Rickard took a free kick which had home Keeper Gary Dinshaw tipping on to the corner of the post. Another free kick from Mark Rowe had Dinshaw worried but fortunately went over the bar, and then minutes later a shot from Aaron Beresford was thankfully tipped over the bar. Still keeping the pressure on, and a header beating the Bude keeper thundered back off the crossbar.
The home team finished with a deserved 3 points and the run of good form has seen 10 points gained out of the last 12. Hopefully keeping their act together we should hopefully get away from the dreaded relegation bottom place. Good attitude and commitment from the team now, so let's hope we can carry that on till the end of the season. A heavy spell coming up though with the run in of the last games sees us playing on Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Sat, Wed, Sat (last home game) and Monday. Quite a hard run in. Best of luck boys!!!
